27 August 2024, Fangak County.
Over 6000 persons displaced at Chotbora Quarter Council (Boma) under Old Fangak Town Council are in dire need of food, shelter, medicines, non-food items etc.
This happened in the midnight of 27 August 2024.
The population is about 6500. They are being evacuated to New Fangak Town by the County Government and partners.
We continue to call on State-National Governments, UN and other humanitarian agencies to prioritise Fangak now than ever before.
Fangak is sinking and we appeal to those having humanity at heart to stand with the people of Fangak in their difficult moments of floods.
Like Chotbora, most villages at interior island Payams have been awashed by water in recent days.
The situation deteriorattes on daily basis despite the physical fronts taken by youth and general community members in rehabilitation of dykes.
We are determined never to leave Fangak County despite critical challenges.. Fangak e dhoraan!
